The open hearth plant including three 900-tons and three 650-tons furnaces is one of the largest in Ukraine, Both carbon and low-alloyed grades of sleelare melted here.
The steel is cast In ingots of 18 to 20 tons in weight. The furnaces are equipped with installations for the continuous measurement of the steel temperature during refining. For the first time in casting ladles a "poured-in" lining with refractories was used.
First in the world with use of roof oxygen lances a record annual capacity of the one independent furnace -- over 1 million tons of steel with the 215.5 tons output per hour -was reached.
